Tips for passing the Fundamental of Engineering exam (FE)

I have taken the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam in October 2005, after having started my PhD in engineering in summer 2002 at the Ohio State University. I had a Bachelor and Master’s degrees in science (Agriculture, and Plants and Soil) before starting my PhD; I took a condensed set of engineering class during my PhD, including the classes listed below which were helpful in preparing me for the FE exam. What was also helpful was testing out of some pre-requisite classes; it allowed me to get to the higher level classes faster.  It’s also possible to talk to the instructors of higher level engineering classes about reading pre-requisite material and taking their class, since most of it the pre-required material is self-explanatory.  The following is a list of the topics covered by the FE exam, the corresponding classes at OSU, and the helpful text books I would recommend.  The study guide for the FE exam, offered by the board of engineers, is a helpeful reference when practcing on solving problems for the exam; it's an index of all used formulas.
